Teaching Experience

Tutoring

I have tutored for many years, and since completing my PGCE this has become my primary form of employment. I offer tuition in maths and science to GCSE level and chemistry to A-level. As an ever growing part of this, I have started to take on work with students who fall under EOTAS (Education Other Than At Schools), therefore I am able to offer extended weekly tutoring blocks.

Supply Teaching

As part of my varied teaching experiences, I have worked as a supply teacher both full and part time. This has afforded me a lot of experience in SEND settings with children aged 4-19, with learning needs ranging from SpLD through to severe ASD and PMLD. I have also taught across a variety of schools in the mainstream setting, teaching both maths and Science.

Industry Experience

Before venturing into tutoring, I worked in industry as a chemist and environmental engineer. This variety of industry experience has provided me with an understanding of the applications of my areas of study. The skills learnt in these settings have been invaluable, and have helped me to develop my tutoring capabilities in a way that provides my students with a deep and in-depth understanding of what they are learning. It also enables me to provide bespoke training aimed at apprentices and staff currently in industry, combining the realities of industrial work with academic achievement.

Hi, I’m Tabitha!

Tab maths tutor | Maths, Science and Drums

I’m a Maths tutor with over 25 years of experience in education, and I specialise in supporting learners with SEND, low confidence and anxiety around learning.

At Tutorage, I currently teach Maths, helping students feel safe, understood and capable in their sessions. I know how overwhelming school and exams can feel, especially for learners who have had a difficult experience before.

I also have a strong background in English and ESOL, which allows me to support students who struggle with reading, understanding questions and explaining their answers. My aim is always to help learners build confidence, not just improve their grades.
